Oak and Oasis

Oak and Oasis

Montgomery, Alabama

This Montgomery client frequently opens their home for entertaining. The Pfeffer Torode team and Laura Dockery was tasked to create spaces which would flow effortlessly inside and out and would be conducive to the owner's busy social calendar.

The stairwell which leads down to the stunning cellar was cleverly lined with old wine crate lids. Wishing to maximize space, wine is also stored in a rack which rolls out from the walls. Trying to be good stewards of the original home, the ceiling is lined in old paneling which was salvaged from the house.

James Farmer designed a lovely garden which overlooks a shared park. The outdoor fireplace and curved seating area is designed around a fountain, re-purposing an old beer barrel tap.

Not to be missed is the front porch area, also designed for dining alfresco, with doors which extend from the inside dining room. The additional porch was created for grilling and an occasional afternoon with a favorite cigar.
