Office 921

Nashville, Tennessee

This project transformed an unfinished basement in an existing block building into a light filled creative office. The original block building was built in 1972, and the basement area, the scope of this project, had been left as an unfinished storage space. The key challenge was turning a raw space, with two sides buried underground and only 12 feet of street frontage into a prominent creative office, while maintaining a neighborhood favorite bar in its fully intact condition above.

By building out the basement space and using the alley as the primary entrance, the project creates a transition from a traditional street facing approach to the unconventional alley facing approach with a speakeasy feel.
