Graham Street

Montgomery, Alabama

For their Montgomery office, Pfeffer Torode Architecture repurposed an old postal warehouse in Cloverdale bringing new life to a once understated structure. To respect the existing fabric of the neighborhood, minimal interventions were added on the exterior – a new entrance door where a garage door once was and a covered porch to engage the alley behind the building. Both modifications nod to the scale of the surrounding residential fabric and adjacent commercial properties. The exposed trusses and roof acknowledge the industrial heritage of the building while simple interior partitions divide the space for its new program. The furnishings and drapery further soften to the space and create a main drawing room where ideas come to life.
